Fac fideli sis fidelis.

Be faithful to the one who is faithful to you.

Latin proverb

To trust or not to trust?

Most often we talk about trust when we really need someone’s support. For example, we rely on the help of a person, and he/she either helps us or falls short of our expectations.

How to live on and trust people, how to run a business without making mistakes? Is it even possible?

Personal trust is a firm belief in the honesty, decency and loyalty of another person.

In a team, this is the unshakable belief of group members that the actions of colleagues are prompted by good intentions. In such a team, you are not afraid of being stabbed in the back or falling victim to some cheap shot, and there is no need for you to defend yourself against someone else’s actions.

How to create an atmosphere of trust?

Remember how you started your journey with a new team. Most likely, you carefully observed how people behaved, learned the customary ways of work. This is the so-called entry level of trust. It can differ for every person, depending on previous life experience. But as soon as you start joining an unfamiliar community, any interaction becomes an opportunity to increase or decrease the level of trust.

A team in which relationships are based on mutual trust does not waste time on bickering and settling scores. In a friendly atmosphere, people are not afraid to voice their opinions or seek help. Assistance is offered quickly and easily. It is not surprising that the atmosphere in such teams is well-wishing, and there is practically zero employee turnover.

Trust is the result of teamwork, it consists of the rules of general communication, commitment and competence. The result of the activity and the pace of achieving the goal depend on its level.

How to build trust within the team?

  • Find common interests that will become a solid foundation in the event of disagreements and conflicts.
  • Make your team members believe they can count on their colleagues.
  • Support ideas that are collectively accepted.
  • Report problems at an early stage and discuss solutions to such problems.
  • Cultivate confidence that relationships among team members are stable.
  • Value reliability and be ready to help others.
  • Motivate your colleagues to strive for shared values and the right goal.

How does trust help in achieving one’s goal?

This is always a bilateral relationship. Learning to trust can be a challenge. But without faith and support, not a single person can create a cohesive team, such a person will always be at risk of failing to cope with the implementation of the plan.

To begin with, believe in your goal, understand that it is really important to you!

Think about who will support you in achieving the plan and whether you are ready to trust those people.
